SAFW A/W15 - Kat Van Duinen

This was a particularly interesting collection from Polish-born Kat Van Duinen.  It was also one of the largest in terms of individual pieces on the runway this season.  As the range unfolded, it became apparent that Kat's heritage was most definitely coming through.  Part Imperial-Russia, part Great Gatsby with a big dollop of Downton Abbey thrown in for good measure.  It was as if the Russian Revolution had never occurred and the collection seemed to hint at what might have happened if the Russia had developed its own version of the Roaring 20's.

The palate was entirely black.  However, it was by no means boring.  Leather, fur, lace and glittered embellishments all came together in a well thought-out combination of retro-modernism.
