POPPY NTSHONGWANA FOR SUPERGA - Rosebank - Johannesburg

We love it when a local celebrity joins the ranks of international celebs and becomes the face of a global brand.  Poppy Ntshongwana recently became the face of Superga and a launch was held at the store in Rosebank to introduce both Poppy and the new advertising campaign.

We were there to celebrate with Poppy - who looked
absolutely radiant in white

We weren't the only ones there to lend our support.  AnniKING's
Joanna Chen (above), Le1ghlo's Leigh Crymble (centre) and
Zakeeya Patel (bottom) were in attendance

We always love bumping into Kirsty Du Toit

Kamini Pather was in town for the event seen here with
her partner for the evening, musician Matthew Gold

This was Zakeeya Patel's first outfit for the evening.  Like us, she
had a full program that evening and had a second change of clothing
in her car boot.

Tamerin Jardine and Jay Anstey both
arrived in season hot yellow!

The lady of the moment!  Poppy Ntshongwana was dressed
in a stunning white dress that would have made Carrie
Bradshaw proud.

JET SPRING/SUMMER LAUNCH - Glenshiel, Johannesburg

Following on from our series of recent Spring launches, we made our way to see what the new Jet collection held in store. Retailers previously unknown for having a fashion edge are beginning to step out into Spring/Summer in a fashionable way. This could not be more true for Jet, they recently held their Spring/Summer Launch on the magnificent lawns of a national heritage treasure in Westcliff. We were pleasantly surprised with the results...

We made our way to the lawns of Glenshiel to see the new Jet collection...

Celebrity faces at the show (from left):
Khanyi Mbau dazzled on the runway
while Roxy Burger looked fab in prints

More well-known fashionable celebs:

Tropical florals are certainly trending this Spring
They were liberally used in the collection

Dapper gents showing off the formal wear with some interesting detailing

Monochromatic magic: definitely a look to rock this Spring

We loved the flowing silhouette of this dress
All in all, a pleasing collection

WOOLWORTHS STYLE BY NIGHT - Shine Studios - Braamfontein

You know when a new fashion season is being ushered in when Woolworths announces their Style By Night Extravaganza.  The second SBN took place at Shine Studios high above the Johannesburg skyline and all the top fashionistas were eager to get their hands on one of the hottest tickets of the fashion season.  Alan and Krishen were there in the front row to take in the latest Spring Summer range.

The obligatory arrival shot.  This one taken after frantically
taking selfies in order to enter the now-traditional Woolies Style By Night
"best dressed competition"

Tweeting in the front row under the watchful eye
of our friend Kevin McLennan.

The womans-wear was to die for.  And the production of the fashion show
itself was phenomenal.

After the winter we just endured, it was a breath of fresh air to
see the appearance of shorts on the runway at last!

And for the finale - confetti, balloons and bikinis.
It was like a Victoria Secret fashion extravaganza!

Then it was mingling time.  Melody Molale was on a natural high.
As one of the faces of Woolworths and social media influencer, Mel
had every right to be euphoric.

No matter where we go we always bump into Boity Thulo (above).
Sarah Heaton (below) seemed to have us spellbound!

Thabiso Makubela turned the tables and insisted taking
a pic of us.  Clearly we approved of the result!

Fashionistas and the well-heeled everywhere one looked!
Samantha Constable, Zakeeya Patel and Stevie French (left),
Roxy Burger (middle right) and Gert-Johan Coetzee (bottom right)

Vuzu was well represented.  We were thrilled to finally
meet Dineo Moeketsi (above) who seemed equally thrilled
to hear a bit of gossip from Alan.  Denise Zimba (below) looked
radiant in a floor length black gown.
With the "Ladies In White" Pearl Modiade and Boity Thulo

Bonang Matheba congratulates the Best Dressed winner.
Oh well, we will try again next year.  Overheard "they always
give the prizes to women!".  Best we come in drag next year, maybe
we will stand a chance!

Not to take anything away from the winner but we thought there
were stunning outfits that night - like the one Mi'chal Naidoo was
wearing (left) and the stunning outfit on DNA Brand Architects'
very own Tshego (right).

IN CONVO - Melinda Bam and Katlego Phajane, Hyde Park Corner, Johannesburg

A lovely morning at Life Grand Café, Hyde Park
with Melinda Bam and Katlego Phajane

Meeting Veet SA ambassador, Melinda Bam and the reigning Miss Veet SA, Katlego Phajane over a coffee at Life Grand Café in Hyde Park was simply delightful. Many people have set ideas about beauty queens: pretty yet vacuous, charming yet plastic and somewhat superficial.  All these stereotypes were quickly dispelled once we started chatting to Melinda and Katlego. Indeed, the Miss Veet SA competition takes a modern stance on pageants: the young woman who will walk away with the crown needs to be ‘graceful and captivating, smart and inspiring, lively and sociable’. This is not just a ramp model but rather a role model for the new generation of empowered young women – one who is well-balanced and an inspiration to others out there as opposed to being simply physically beautiful.

Radiant beauties (from left):
Melinda Bam and Katlego Phajane

Melinda strongly emphasized the elements of balance that the ideal Miss Veet SA would embody: ‘It’s also about being healthy and taking good care of yourself.’ Melinda confessed that even though exercising and working out was challenging for her at times, she always felt better after a workout session (instead of having a personal trainer, her fiancé, a former Mr. South Africa himself, Adriaan Bergh doubles as her motivator when it comes to physical activity). Katlego echoed this sentiment too stating that as the current Miss Veet SA, remaining in good physical shape is important not only to look one’s best but rather to be at one’s healthiest. It’s clearly a case of beauty inside and out.

We loved chatting about ideas to get more guys to use Veet
Melinda has already it on her fiancé, Adriaan Bergh!

Melinda was one of the judges that made the decision to crown Katlego with the title of Miss Veet SA 2014. It’s clear that a great mentoring relationship and friendship has developed between the two. The mentoring sessions offered to the top 10 contestants are an important part of the competition. Melinda explained that it’s about building self-confidence and the ability to tackle challenges. It’s not just about winning or losing a beauty pageant but rather about developing skills and abilities that will mean that the title of Miss Veet SA serves the winner long after the year has ended. ‘365 days go by so quickly and you really need to make each day count,’ Melinda explained. Of course, she’s no stranger to the rapidity with which a reigning year can go by having been crowned Miss SA in 2011. ‘It’s about what you do with the title that matters’. Clearly, she put her pageant win to great effect and still continues to work her magic by passing knowledge and expertise on to newbies like Katlego. Katlego has enjoyed her reign thus far and is excited for the next few months as the search begins for a new Miss Veet SA. She already has plans to use her platform to her greatest possible advantage once her reign has ended. And what better way to start of a career than with the fantastic prizes on offer as the winner of Miss Veet SA? A modeling contract worth a hefty sum is only one of the great prizes.

We thoroughly enjoyed our In Convo with these two ladies!

However, after chatting to Melinda and Katlego, it is clear that the greatest benefit of winning a competition like this is the possibility of amazing friendships, mentoring and opportunities for growth the lucky young woman will receive. We cannot wait to usher in a new Miss Veet SA. Entries are now open at www.veetbeauty.co.za for young women aged between 18-25.

GM & AHRENS BUBBLY DAY - Weylandts, Brooklyn Mall, Pretoria

"Too much of anything is bad, but too much Champagne is just right." —F. Scott Fitzgerald

We certainly found this to be true when we celebrated with GM & Ahrens at the Bubbly Brunch held recently. Socialising in style with celebrities and socialites, who stepped out in their finest linens to enjoy a stylish, delectable combination of copious amounts of bubbly with magnificently prepared cuisine...

Arriving at Weylandts for a bubbly-filled morning

CARVELA SUMMER LAUNCH - Sandton City - Johannesburg

Being fashion forward and well-heeled are terms synonymous with one another so we are always excited to be invited by our friends at Styling Concepts to see the latest range of shoes from Carvela.  The stand alone Carvela store in Sandton City is a perfect example of high end store design - from the exquisite fittings to the shoes themselves.  And the who's who of the fashion world joined us in the experience.

Here we are arriving in matching red trousers
(completely co-incidental of course)

The shoes on display perfectly compliment the stylish
interior.  No one can go home empty handed after a visit.
Catching up with Chiano Sky and Kirsty Du Toit.
Considering we always seem to bump into one of fave guys,Maps Maponyane,
its surprising we hardly ever have any pics taken with him

Tamerin Jardine looked stunning in her monaco blue
Khosi Nkhosi number

The ever stylish Melody Molale wore a vibrant patterned
skirt offset beautifully with a plain black top

Socialising with (top) Stevie French who was telling Nicole Da Silva
all about her current hit TV programme (spoiler alert!) and the
ever gorgeous Mic'hal Naidoo (below)

Marie Claire editor Aspasia Karras never fails to impress
and this outfit is no exception.  We loved her deconstructed
coat in a black and white geometric design and  her
wonderful black "pseudo" gladiator heels.

Look of the night had to definitely go to Kamini Pather in her
Avant Apparel stunner!  Only a few hours
before, we had trawled Braamfontein with Kamini in search of
hot Jozi eateries.

(from left) Palesa Mahlaba, Ayesha Mohamed and Mi'chal Naidoo
flew the flag for the fashion forward ladies.

But one has to also give it to the gents too.  Suave and sexy
was the order of the day.  We particularly loved Dumi Gwebu's
"season hot" yellow trousers (left)
