FLYING FISH PREMIUM FLAVOURED BEER Finds Funky Fashionistas at SA Fashion Week

The fashionable duo Alan and Krishen in association with Flying Fish Premium Flavoured Beer were out to spot some trendy street-style dressers at the SA Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2015 shows. We certainly were not disappointed by the young and funky bunch of fashionistas strutting their stuff in original ensembles displaying their creative flair and sense of fashion. Fashion Week is a time when creativity comes alive and the trendiest dressers can be spotted. We were there to see what the young influencers were sporting and what trends can be expected in the coming months.

Trendsetters working magic at the Opening Night Party:
colour to monochrome - the only rule was to be as trendy as possible!

One thing is certain: the bunch of young fashion-forward individuals snapped by us were certainly not afraid of being daring with their sense of style. Taking risks and expressing individuality through fashion choices is what it is all about. Street style allows the space to explore and expand upon a fashion idea and to take it to the max. This is exactly what we spotted at SA Fashion Week.

Sublime Sisters: we loved the daring nature of these outfits

So what were the main trends seen? The Sports Luxe influence is still big on the street-style scene. This includes sporty elements such as sneakers and trainers as well as more comfortable, less formal looks. In addition, we saw many sports-inspired fabrics such as mesh being worn. The main attention is always on the footwear when it comes to this particular trend. Eye-catching sneakers were the order of the day with many trendy fashionistas sporting awesome pairs of kicks (some by well-known designer labels).

Mixing it up: from monochrome to florals and leathers - a definite variety of looks

Funky fabrics were also spotted: these ranged from leathers to prints and everything in-between. Leather is certainly very trendy at the moment and fashion enthusiasts are rocking this fabric in items such as jackets, pants as well as light overcoats. Other animal skins were also seen as well as many animal-inspired prints. Fur accents are still big and can add a bit of glamour to a look. In addition, tropical and floral prints were seen on many funky dressers. Both guys and girls were seen in a variety of fabrics – no gender stereotypes here!

Daring Men: Everything from Striped Jumpsuits to Colour to Animal Skins

The devil is certainly in the details when it comes to Street Style. Attention to detail was seen on many looks. This included metallic details coming out in the form of accessories or to add some bling to items of clothing. An outfit would be elevated by the addition of some well-placed metal accessories. This was seen in everything from buckles to zip detailing to spikes. Other funky details spotted were artful rips in denims as well as a variety of headgear: hats in all shapes and sizes were seen.

Dapper Dudes: bringing in hats, prints and creative use of fabrics
Very strong Pharrell-like inspiration for many of the young guys

The ultimate trend message for those aspiring to be on-trend street stylistas is to think out of the box: mix the old and the new and don’t be afraid to take risks. Accessories are important and so is the use of different textures and fabrics. Just like Flying Fish adds a dash of flavour to their beer, #AddSomeFlavour to what you wear!
