AnniKING SPRING/SUMMER LAUNCH Intoto Gallery - Johannesburg

"With an AnniKING handbag you are saying that, in a world where you often have to appear strong, you also want to embrace beauty and your femininity."

You know winter is finally coming to an end when you start receiving invitations to Spring/Summer launches.  We were thrilled to attend a sneak preview of the new AnniKING range of handbags and wallets designed by Joanna Chen.  A small group of bag-lovers (we were tempted to refer to them as "bag-ladies",  us included!) gathered at Jacques Michau's Intoto Gallery and were completely carried away (pun intended) after seeing the new collection.

Hues of blue, shades of pink: what a coincidence our outfits
co-ordinated with Joanna Chen's choice of colour palette

This is the first event we have attended where the food was presented in a "tree"
and the dessert on a "wall".  We thought the food (Prep'ed By Sasha Catering)
was delicious and clearly so did everyone else - it didn't take long for the tree to be "de-flowered"
and the wall to be "demolished"

Little did we know when we met Joanna Chen a few months ago at the
Woolworths Style By Night event that this former corporate dynamo
is the creative force behind this fashion label

An art gallery was chosen with clear purpose in mind: the bags were displayed as though they were museum exhibits. A great example of fashion and art merging

The quote we used at the beginning of this post came from Hayley Owen during her speech when she
introduced us to Joanna and gave us an insight into the history of AnniKING.
Like us Hayley selected a spring shade for her choice of
outfit - seen here with Actorvate's Kirsty Du Toit
(Hayley's publicist)

What would an event be without bumping into a few old friends like Tamerin Jardine (above)
and Irina Domanchuk (below)
